Help us grow!

We are continuously working to help Hobo Archive to grow in new and exciting ways. All cultural resources related to hobo history and culture are welcome. Refer to the How to Contribute page found in the dropdown menu under Contact and Contribute for more information on how to contribute online.

Items of particular interest to Hobo Archive include personal memorabilia, photographs, letters, hobo art, 3D artifacts, historical newspaper articles and other media resources, resources related to Britt, Iowa, the Hobo Convention, hobo-related gatherings, published and creative works, and other historical and cultural resources of relevance.

We are happy to work with you in order to collect your items and share your knowledge in effort to identify artifacts and include descriptions/stories in the archive. All submitted resources are subject to review by the Collection Committee for authentication. If you have questions or concerns about items that you'd like to submit, please contact Minneapolis Skinny.

*Please note, images of items are required to submit cultural resources to the digital archive. File formats allowed include JPEG, PDF, PSD, PNG, GIF, and TIFF.

A Call for Oral Histories

We are actively seeking folks who are willing to have a conversation with us about their hoboing/traveling experiences on the road. We believe oral histories are vital to sustaining the preservation of hobo history and culture. Our team has a trained oral historian who is experienced in conducting interviewing and collecting stories. Please contact Laura Carpenter if you have stories that you'd like to see preserved in the archive and shared with the greater public.
